Spooner Health Receives Five Stars from CMS Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating

In May, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) published their annual Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating. Spooner Health received the highest rating with five stars, an achievement only 385 of the 4,609 acute care hospitals and critical access hospitals that were rated received.

“Every day, our team strives to provide the best possible care to our patients,” said Clint Miller, BSN Chief Nursing Officer. “It’s that commitment from our team members that is recognized in our recent five-star rating.”

The Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating incorporates clinical and other quality measures across five categories: Mortality, Safety of Care, Readmissions, Patient Experience, and Timely & Effective Care.

These ratings provide patients with a summary of past patient experiences and quality performance measures at hospitals across the nation. Patients can then use this information to make more informed decisions about where they can receive quality, hospital-based care.

“It’s one thing to say we’re committed to excellence, but to see the hard work of our team members reflected in this rating is humbling,” said Mike Schafer, Spooner Health CEO/Administrator. “We are incredibly grateful for a hard-working team that always puts their patients first.”
