Leslie Arf Joins Spooner Health’s Board of Directors

SPOONER, WI – Nancy Markgren’s time on Spooner Health’s Board of Directors has come to an end and Leslie Arf joins the board effective January 2018.

Nancy, a lifelong Spooner resident, served faithfully on the board for nine years. She has been married for 58 years to Phil Markgren and together they have three children, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The Markgrens have been business owners for 65 years, owning the Spooner Bake Shoppe for 44 years and currently the Yellow River Trading Company for four years. Nancy says, “The nine years I was on the Spooner Health Board of Directors were some of the most interesting and rewarding years I have ever spent on a board. I was privileged to be a part of the new building project. To see all the years of careful planning finally become a reality was such a feeling of accomplishment, even though I was such a small part of it.”

“Nancy Markgren gave a unique perspective to Spooner Health’s Board of Directors,” said Mike Schafer, Spooner Health CEO. “Her roots in the Spooner community and savvy business skills made her an exceptional board member.”

“I am so proud of our new facility and the great medical staff that provide great care for our area,” said Markgren. “We are so fortunate to have this asset in such a small community!”
