Spooner Health Hires Betsy Helgesen as Culinary Services Director

SPOONER, WI (May 26, 2016)—Spooner Health is contracting with Aramark to provide food and environmental services at the new facility. Spooner Health is pleased to announce the hiring of Betsy Helgesen as Culinary Services Director. Betsy brings a wealth of culinary experience and strong management background as she is the Owner and Chef of Spooner Market & Grill. Joel, Betsy’s husband, will continue to operate the Spooner Market & Grill. 

Betsy resides in Trego and earned her Culinary Arts degree from Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon.  Betsy was a District Manager of Starbucks for seven years until Betsy and Joel opened their restaurant in 2003. 

Betsy said, “I am very excited about joining the Aramark team and accepting this new opportunity. I attended the open house on May 15 and was pleasantly surprised to see so many familiar faces from the community that I will have the pleasure of working with at Spooner Health.” 

Kelley Leonard, Aramark District Manager over the Spooner Health account said, “We feel very fortunate to find someone like Betsy with her caliber of culinary skills.  Her personality and management background is a great match to the culture and values of both Aramark and Spooner Health.”

Room service dining will be available to all inpatients allowing them to select meals from a restaurant style menu, as well as determine their own mealtimes throughout the day.  Mike Schafer, CEO of Spooner Health, stated, “One of the reasons that Spooner Health partnered with Aramark was due to their excellent reputation for providing patient meals that are healthy and delicious. We are excited with the hiring of Betsy as we know with her experience and Aramark’s programs we will be redefining how people think about hospital food.”
